In the Winter of 2006 (my first winter in the US), as part of my East Coast experience, I went to visit my high school friends in Virginia. The reunion was amazing… and that is another story that might be written in my other blog (since that is a more verbose one). One of the days, we went to Washington DC… MY first trip to the country’s capital.
I loved the city. The cold was biting, but somehow very majestic. Maybe it felt that way because of all the history surrounding us. I probably took a zillion pictures of all the structures around, but when I was sifting through them, the ones that stood out were those of the trees.
Once royal, and huge, these trees were stark… bare — because of all that biting sub-zero cold weather. As my friend says, very poetically, “In shaakhon ko dekho, inki tadap mein bhi kitni khubsoorti hai” (Look at those branches, they seem beautiful in spite of their pain).
